My 2 yearold daughter received this Hello Kitty My Busy Books as a Valentines gift. The set comes with a storybook, 12 figurines, and a playmat.
The storybook is made out of a sturdy cardboard that is very glossy with accurate drawlings of Hello Kitty and easy to read story. There are a total of 11 pages, and 6 of the pages have a short paragraph.
The 12 pieces are made out of a hard plastic and they are made/detailed very professionally. See pictures. The mouse is a choking hazard so be be careful.
The playmat is made out of a glossy and sturdy plastic material similar to a poster that you would hang on the wall. The playmat measures 23 inches by 3 ft.
The rear of the play set has an compartment to store the 12 kitty pieces, and the playmat. Just make sure you fold the playmat correctly otherwise it will not fit.
I would highly recommend this to children 2 years or older since there is a choking hazard so be careful.
I got this for my 3 year old Hello Kitty fan for Valentine's Day and she loves the book and the play set. You get a hardcover storybook with a large storage compartment in the back to store the accompanying play mat and 12 PVC figurines that come in the set. The play mat measures 2 feet x 3 feet and has four separate rooms for Hello Kitty and her friends to play in including a classroom, living room, bedroom, and art studio. The figures do vary in size a bit but most are around 2" tall. The figures are well made and sturdy, but since the play mat is made of paper, it can tear easily during play or just from having to repeatedly fold it to put it back inside the book. It's also hard to get it folded small enough to get it back into the compartment. My daughter really likes using the play mat and having Hello Kitty and her friends interact in the rooms. All of the figures you get are featured in the storybook, including Jodie, Thomas, Mimmy, Grandma, Grandpa, Fifi, Tippy, and Tracy to name a few.
The book is not a continuous storyline but several short stories, though they don't have titles. One shows Hello Kitty and her friends in her room for a party dancing, another talks about Hello Kitty helping her mother bake pies, another tells of Grandpa giving Hello Kitty painting lessons, another talks about Hello Kitty helping Grandma garden, and lastly one tells about her friends coming over to ride bikes.
This is a really cute board book and play set and I love the interactive element that the child can reenact the stories in the book with the play mat and figures or create her own. Highly recommended for a Hello Kitty fan!

My girls loved the book to read and the mat and toys get played with everyday.
I bought this for my 3yr old daughter & after a year she is still playing with it. I have to help her fold the mat, but other than that it's perfect.
